  • First day in London (7 August)

Legoland (10 August)

Didn't get to do much yesterday, Brendan woke up with gastro and we spent the day relaxing around the apartment. Took the kids into the garden to relieve the cabin fever late in the afternoon. Quiet evening with Darryl and Liese after Jen earned some of our keep cooking dinner.

Today Darryl had taken the day off, and we headed out to Legoland. About an hours drive to get there, and hit the traffic going in as everyone seemed to be going to Legoland.

Once we got in, we started at the Imagination Centre. We all went for a ride on Sky Rider, small skytrains that look over the top of the park. Then we headed into the 4D movie theatre to see Lego Racers. Brendan and Nicole stopped using the 3D glasses part way through, as they got a bit nervous with the effects, but enjoyed the wind through their hair as the cars and bikes raced through the track, and especially enjoyed the snow fall on the ice track.

Next we roamed the world in Miniland, awesome realistic lego constructions of major landmarks around the world. The London display was the same as being on the London Eye again. Also saw Sweden, Holland, France and the NASA space centre.

Then we went into Duplo Land. Nicole and Brendan drove the helicopters at Chopper Squadron, and then rode with uncle D around the Fairy Tale Brook (twice), watching out for the Big Bad Wolf and Trolls trying to get the better of Little Red Riding Hood and the Three Little Pigs. Jen and I got to ride on our own here for a change.

Time for lunch, so into the nearest place for pizza and juices.

Walked through the bottom of the park, stopping off to ride the Dino Dipper. Brendan enjoyed it, but it went a bit quick for Nicole.

The queues for the rest of the big rides were starting to get long, so headed back up to the kiddy area at Duplo land for icecream and to watch the puppet show. Kids then changed and disappeared into the Waterworks area. Didn't last long there, they were too cold. Brendan discovered the water cannons on the side, and spent some time drowning the poor lego frogs and turtles.

After that it was time to head home, so packed up and changed and hit the road.
